Grandma’s Snicker Cake:

Difficulty: Easy

Prep Time: About 25 minutes plus 50 minutes in the oven

Serves: 10

Ingredients:

  • 1 German chocolate cake mix and required ingredients
  • 1 large package of Kraft caramels
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped peanuts

Execution:

  1. Preheat Oven to 350
  2. Mix the cake according to directions.
  3. Pour one half of the cake batter into a 9x13 greased pan. Cover the remaining half of the cake batter with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for later.
  4. Bake the cake mixture for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
  5. While the first half of the cake is baking, slowly melt the caramels with the butter and milk over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  6. When the first half of the cake has finished baking, remove it from the oven and allow it to rest for about 5 minutes. This allows the cake to cool and gain some strength to hold the filling.
  7. Meanwhile, reduce heat in oven to 250 degrees.
  8. Pour the caramel mixture evenly on top of the cake after it has rested for five minutes.
  9. Sprinkle the chocolate chips and chopped peanuts on top of the caramel mixture.
  10. Pour the remaining cake batter on top and bake for 20 minutes.
  11. After 20 minutes increase heat to 350 degrees and finish baking for an additional 10 minutes.
